FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
- Where does the data come from?
- From Google’s Chrome UX Report (CrUX), a public dataset of real-user experience collected from opted-in Chrome users. Since September 2026 it includes four experimental ad metrics. We query the official CrUX API and History API, store the results with timestamps and collection periods, and benchmark each site against its category peers.
- Can’t I get this data for free?
- Yes. The values for any single site are public through Google’s free tools. AdTax Radar does the part that takes time: tracking thousands of ad-supported publishers on phone and desktop, ranking them against peers, finding real changes between windows that don’t overlap, and turning that into prospect lists, watchlists and weekly digests.
- How is this different from DebugBear, BuiltWith or SpeedCurve?
- Those are excellent tools for monitoring your own sites or profiling technology stacks. We focus on one job: helping agencies and consultants find other publishers whose ad experience is heavy or worsening relative to peers.
- Do you estimate publisher revenue or losses?
- No. Heavy ads can go along with strong monetization. Our scores rank ad-experience heaviness and change, and that’s all.
- Why do some sites have no data?
- CrUX only reports sites with enough Chrome traffic, and ad metrics only appear for pages with ads and an authorized seller in ads.txt. Missing data is shown as missing, never as zero.
- Is AdTax Radar affiliated with Google?
- No. We use publicly available CrUX data under its CC BY 4.0 license. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
- Can I cancel?
- Yes, any time, from Billing (Stripe customer portal). The trial lasts 14 days, and you won’t be charged if you cancel before it ends.
- API or white-label?
- These are planned for higher-volume customers. Ask us from inside the app.
